Week 2
Design and Technology
We started our new project, Shade and Shelter, this week.
We talked about what the words meant and went on a hunt around our school environment to find some examples of them. We discussed which materials they were made from and whether they were temporary or permament.
Literacy
This week in literacy we have begun reading the story Whatever next! by Jill Murphy. We began our learning by packing our space boots, our space helmets and collecting our rockets ready for an exciting trip to the moon! Later in the week we used puppets to re-tell the story.
Science
Within our learning about the project Everyday Materials, we have been exploring natural materials. We thought about how the materials come from the world around us and how they originate from plants, animals, the ground and even the sea.
In groups, we sorted images of natural materials against items that had been made using them. Some of them were a bit tricky so, as a class, we recapped together to address any misconceptions!
