Debbie from Lincs Music Service visited to demonstrate her string instruments. We listened to her playing the cello, viola and violin and had a chance to use our newly-learnt musical terminology to ask questions and make comparisons between the sounds the instruments made. We had a wonderful morning and enjoyed listening to some fantastic live music; it was the first time some of the children had heard these instruments in ‘real life’.
We used our homework to compare our favourite songs. Then, having given our reasons to our group, we voted on one song to represent us. We then listened to these songs as a whole class and described them using the musical vocabulary on our knowledge organisers e.g. instrument families we could hear and how the music made us feel. There was an amazing range of music, covering rock, pop (including ballads) and country music!
Impressive listening on display in Class 2 as the children listened to compared different genres of music, making sure they used the correct vocabulary too.
