Week 1
We started the term off by introducing our new topic 'Maafa'. The children answered the big question of 'What do you think it would have been like to have been a slave?' They then did a knowledge organiser quiz to show what they might already know about the topic.
The children were then given some key words that they would be using throughout the topic. They discussed what they thought they might mean. They were then given a list of meanings and they had to try and match the words to their meanings.
We then explored Africa where lots of the first slaves were taken. The children had to choose an African country and create a fact - file of the country.
