Once upon a time...
During this project children will be introduced to the wonderful world of stories! They will listen to a range of traditional tales and have the chance to act out the stories in their play! They will also listen to alternative versions to hear the different view points of the characters! They will also get the chance to use their imaginations to make up their own stories & make masks, props and puppets to act out their stories too!
Ideas of how to support your child at home during this project:
*Read traditional tales together.
*Visit your local library and choose books to share together.
*Talk about characters in stories and whether they like or dislike them.
*Talk about how the characters behave in stories & what they could do differently.
*Share & discuss the useful documents below:
Week 5
This week to conclude our main project of the term we have been looking at different fairy tale buildings, discussing what type of building they are, what story it could be from & who might live inside! We have also had our first go at creating our own stories... using our props and masks made earlier on in the term to brainstorm our ideas!
Week 4
This week we have been looking at and reading royal stories! We have been looking at Kings & Queens and seeing what different accessories they have such as crowns, special jewellery and swords. We then had a royal workshop where we created our own prop using lots of different materials.
We also read 'The princess & the pea' and then completed an experiment to test out different materials to see which would make the best mattress!
Children in Need!
We had a very important visitor to school this week for Children in Need... Pudsey Bear! The children were so excited to see him in our school, and he even brought some smaller Pudsey Bears along for cuddles too!
On Friday 15th November 2024 we also celebrated with a non school uniform day, wearing Pudsey clothing, yellow or spotty or simply our own clothes to raise money for Children in Need. Thanks to our generous donations, in total as a whole school we raised just over £100 for such an amazing charity.
We hope to see Pudsey Bear again next year!
Week 2
This week we have been reading Goldilocks and the three bears! We have been using expression when retelling the book, using different voices for the bears! We have also been talking about what the bears had for breakfast and how it is a healthy cereal... We then had a go at making our very own perfect porridge! Thinking about the right consistency and exploring how to make it more runny by adding milk. We really enjoyed making and trying the porridge with different toppings.
Week 1
To launch our new project for the term we turned our classroom into our very own Gipsey Bridge theatre! We had to pay for a ticket to enter the theatre and then take our seats & wait for Hansel & Gretel to begin. After lots of booing the badies, cheering the goodies & singing and dancing along it was interval time, where we had a hot chocolate and a biscuit!
