Week 1

The summer term kicked off with the children learning about Greek myths in literacy. The children looked at a model example and the features that a good myth needs to include. They read the myth 'The First Labours of Heracles.' During the week, the children also looked at some of the grammatical features needed in a myth, such as present perfect and past perfect verbs and relative clauses.

For the history part of the Groundbreaking Greeks, the children started by answering our big question 'What legacies did the ancient Greeks leave us?' They then completed a knowledge organiser quiz on some of the key information that they will be learning during the project.

The children then had to chronologically order images of Greek artefacts. The children also had to research some of the missing information such as the period the artefact was from and what it was used for.
