Animal Safari! - Summer Term 1

Animal Safari!

For this term's exciting project we will be learning all about incredible animals that live around our world. We will be exploring various animal habitats & comparing animals that live there with animals in our locality. Children will learn how to care for pets & find out what all animals need to grow, survive and stay happy and healthy. We will explore animal features and find out how they survive in the wild. As well as comparing the ways in which animals are similar and different.

Our big question we are exploring this term is: 'Which animal could it be?'

Ideas of how to support your child at home during this project:

*Go on a local safari to find out about the animals that live in your garden or local park.

*Look at animals from around the world, discuss your favourite animals & find out some fantastic facts to share with us at school.

*Visit a local petting farm or zoo together.

*Share & discuss the useful documents below:

Week 4

This week we have become zoologists!! We have thoroughly enjoyed researching all about amazing animals around the world... from finding out whether they are carnivores, herbivores or omnivores, to measuring how long or tall animals are using a trundle wheel! We have also been learning what makes an animal a mammal, bird or reptile!

Week 3

This week we have been thinking about our pets we have at home! We looked at photos of our pets and discussed how we look after them. We also made our own chart to find out the most popular pet in our class... and found out that most of us have a dog at home!

We also had a go at drawing some amazing animals, like a scientist! Paying particular attention to detail and ensuring to include the special features that show us what animal it is, such as orange and black stripes for tigers!
