The Gambia

Reception looked at a map and learnt about where The Gambia was (linked into topic Where do I live?)

They looked at photos of schools, homes, clothes and then watched a video of ladies dancing and making African rhythms. The children then had a go as a class.

They tried on clothing and created their own collages with beautiful patterns. The children coloured in the Gambian flag and played in our mud hut small world tray.

At the end of the day we read Boris went to The Gambia which Mrs Knight wrote after she had been to The Gambia and in that we also learnt to count to 5 in Mandinka, which is one of the languages spoken there, although the most common language used is English.
