Week 1
We kicked off the Spring term with our Sow, Grow and Farm project. The children first did a 'cold' low stake quiz to test what they might already know about they are going to be learning. This will be re - visited at the end of the topic.
The children were then given some information about allotments and a challenge to find a suitable site for a new allotment from three proposed sites. They had to take into consideration factors such as: water supply, security, parking, soil type and facilities to decide which would be the most suitable site.
After this, the children looked at allotment habitats and food webs that are associated with them. They learnt key words such as producer, consumer, prey, predator and apex predator.
They then learnt about animal and plant life cycles - learning key words such as embryo, adolescent and photosynthesis.
