Structures and sheet material testing

Greenhouse Design

Class 2 developed their DT skills within 3 activities today. The first looking at how to create shell of frame structures, using diagonal struts and triangular shapes for strength, the second task was to test sheet materials to find the strongest, most waterproof material, that also allowed light to pass through. The third activity involved testing building skills, using cocktail sticks and gummy sweets to join. Following a set of instructions, the children created both triangular and square faces, then joined to make 3D shapes. They then tested the strength and stability of their 3D shape.
