Religious Education
We talked all about parties. We though about when we go to parties and what we do there.
We then read the story - It's Party Time; A Purim Story.
To finish our lesson we learnt the Horah dance which is a Jewish Folk dance that is performed during Purim celebrations.
Science
It is now time for us to be scientists again and work scientifically during our Innovate challenge.
Using all of our previous knowledge throughout the project, we thought about questions that we would like to find out the answers to. We knew the equipment we had and how to use it so there were lots of ideas bouncing around.
We chose our investigation by voting on a question and we are excited to answer it throughout the week!
Religious Education
We have had great fun retelling the Jewish story of The Queen Who Saved Her People.
In groups, we chose a part of the story and were characters including Esther and Haman.
Science
We have been scientists and investigating temperature. When working scientifically, we made predictions and discussed how to make the test fair.
In groups, measured and recorded the temperature and look forward to seeing any patterns over the next three days.
Reading Comprehension
We had great fun using our comprehension skills to complete questions from the Define strand. We were using a non-fiction text, This is Our Planet.
Religious Education
We started our second project of the year, the Jewish celebration of Purim, by making graggers. These are used to make a noise to drown out what Haman has to say in the story, The Queen Who Saved Her People. It was a very noisy afternoon!
Maths
We loved using manipulatives in maths to complete some division sums. We used cubes and drew the groups on whiteboards. We shared cubes out equally into groups to find the answers.
Writing
Take a look at our wonderful class poem we have written all about the weather!
First Aid Training
We have been incredibly lucky to get some first aid training in class 1! We have been listening carefully and sensibly when learning all about the recovery position and how to resuscitate a person in need.
Science
We have started our measuring wind investigation which is the first in lots of exciting experiments related to the weather! Mr Ashley very kindly put up our windsock and we used it to measure the strength of the wind against the Beaufort scale. We are looking forward to continuing our observations over the next few days!
Music
This term, we have been exploring the song, Colonal Hathi’s march. We started by looking closely at the rhythm, marching like elephants and then creating our very own marching band!
Science
We have had great fun using a chart to explore the number of daylight and night hours throughout the months of the year.
In pairs, we took part in a quiz and some of us were able to get all answers correct!
Religious Education
This week, we have been learning about how special Muhammad is within the Islamic faith. He was known to be a very honest and trustworthy person.
We then used a scenario based around somebody knocking over a bottle of paint, it spilling over the carpet and then left. We really enjoyed getting into role of the teacher and pupils to use drama to explore honesty. There were quite a few groups that the culprit was not trustworthy initially but eventually owned up and apologised!
Religious Education
We were so lucky today to have two very special visitors in class one, a 7 week old baby and her mummy.
We were able to ask lots of question about her and we just couldn't believe how special she is!
We talked about the birth of Muhammad and how special the story is for the people of Islamic faith.
Science
We have loved starting our new project, Seasonal Changes, in Science this week. After watching a short information video, we did really well using our retrieval skills to be able to place information onto a seasons wheel as a class.
This will be so useful to place on a learning wall so that we can use and reflect throughout the whole project!
