Spring Term 2 - School days

Our new project this term is call 'School Days'. During the project we be learning all about what it was like to be educated in the Victorian era and we will learn about the differences between schooling in the Victorian era and schooling today. We will spent time investigating objects found in a Victorian classroom and how they were used. We are also going to be stepping back in time to research Samuel Wilderspin, an important figure in the development of schooling for young children in the Victorian era, whose ideals are reflected in schooling today. All of this learning and research will enable us to answer this terms Big Question: How was life in the Victorian era different to now?

Visit our class page regularly to follow our learning journey throughout the project. We can't wait to share all of our fantastic learning experiences with you!

After exploring the buildings around the school in art this week, the children have been using their sketching skills to draw some of our school buildings.

This week we have been exploring the buildings around the school. We spent time discussing the similarities and differences between the features on the buildings. We also spotted how the old parts of the school look different to the new parts of the school. The children spotted that the bricks on the old parts of the school are all different shapes and sizes and the bricks on the new parts of the school are all the same shape and sizes.
