Reception children do not receive homework during the first few weeks of school.
Homework challenges and suggested activities will be given out every Friday. If your child has been asked to complete a challenge please return this to school for the following Wednesday.
Homework challenges or activities should take approximately 5 minutes at a time and Reception children are expected to do a small activity to support their learning 5 times a week. It is often more beneficial to do a little bit often than spend a long while completing every possible activity in one go.
We usually do PE on a Wednesday morning with Mr Curcio and a Thursday morning with a member of the JB team.
*This is subject to change each week so please make sure that your child has a PE Kit in school everyday.
Please aim to read with your child 5 times a week.
We find that the more you read with a child, even when they can't read the words themselves yet, the quicker and more successfully they develop reading skills and vocabulary.
We will change reading books on a Monday and a Thursday.
- It is really beneficial for your child to read their book more than once so please do not worry if you have the same book to share again.
- Children do not need to read the whole book at once. 2 pages is absolutely fine! Only read for approx 5 minutes at a time.
- talk about the pages and pictures. Link what you are reading to your child's interest and experiences.
Reception now have a library day on a Monday lunchtime. Our fantastic school librarians will remind the children when it is their turn to change their book. Half of the class will be allowed to change their book each week so that our library doesn't get too full and our librarians have a chance to help them properly.
