Our topic for the new year is 'Lights, Camera, Action!'

We started this term's film making project by exploring different camera angles. We used high and low angles, as well as close up, medium, aerial and worm's eye shots. We then used a range of sentence starters to write interesting sentences about the photographs we had taken.
Faith's group wrote: 'Looking down from my comfortable chair, I could see Faith reading a high quality book.' They thought about the perspective of the writer and allowed the reader to imagine the scene by explaining where Faith was in relation to the writer.
Other sentences started with 'Close up....', 'Far beneath me...', 'In the distance...' amongst others. We are now going to try to use these in our writing on a regular basis to add extra details for the reader.
We have been reading and writing about Roald Dahl's 'The BFG' in literacy, as our focus has been stories set in imaginary worlds. We have been thinking about how we can create an effect on the reader using similes and powerful adjectives.
We used drama to show different similes and think about the image that we created in the reader's mind, then we transferred these ideas into our writing. The results were magnificent! Photographs to follow...
