Summer Term Two - Valiant Victorians

Valiant Victorians

In the final term we will be learning about the Victorians, with a focus on the poor.  We are reading Street Child, by Berlie Doherty, which tells the story of a young boy who lives on the Victorian streets, and introduces the charity of Barnardo’s which was established during the period.  Using this as a stimulus, we are going to look at charity and how people, such as Dickens, viewed the poor.  Towards the end of the project, pupils will work in teams to create a charity that could potentially be established today.

Using ICT and books to research the Victorian period.
