School Council 2013-14

At Gipsey Bridge Academy we have a very active School Council who strive to improve the school for the benefit of all pupils as well as raising money for charities through a whole range of different events. Check out this page to see what we have been doing!

Our School Council Officers presented Pat Wright, representative of When You Wish Upon A Star charity, with a cheque for £169. The School Council raised the funds by holding a strawberry sale, and creating a tea towel from drawings of each child at Gipsey Bridge Academy.

KS1 winner was Cain. KS2 winner was Kelsey.


We raised £30.

Children In Need Talent Show


Friday 15th November sees the annual Children In Need day. We will be celebrating by holding a talent show in the afternoon. Add your name and talent to the list in the hall, by Thursday 14th November, if you would like to take part.



If you would like to wear something spotty, please make a donation of £1.


Thank you to everyone who donated to Children In Need - a fabulous £66.95 was raised .

The School Council worked together to create their own 'Target Shooter' and 'Speedy Marbles' games for the Christmas Market. Their popularity on the day raised a fabulous £45.

Last term the School Council were invited to enter the House of Commons Speaker’s School Council Awards. Our entry took the form of a leaflet promoting Road Safety.


We have received a response from the Rt. Hon John Bercow, The Speaker’s School Council Awards team, thanking us for our entry which was one of over 700 nationally.


Although we are not one of this year's winners reference was made to the 'inspiring and worthwhile activities' and that they 'were incredibly impressed by the commitment and passion with which the school councillors dedicated themselves to their amazing projects'.

'We would really like to thank you and your school council for taking part in the competition and for all the hard work that has gone into making your project great.'
