We will be working through the first 300 high frequency words early in the year to make sure all children have a firm grasp of common words before we continue with more sophisticated spelling patterns. The lists are attached above, so that you can practise them at home, should you wish.
Tested on 4th December: Children have been given individual spelling lists, based on errors made in previous tests or independent writing.

Friday 11th September - Only Mrs. Smart's phonics group has spellings this week (the days of the week), as Miss Walsh's group have one more set of HFWs to complete. Individual spellings will be handed out then.

Friday 4th September - No spellings. We are testing the final 200 high frequency words throughout next week, which the children know are on the website. They can practise these if they wish.
Homework
Friday 6th May

There is no homework this weekend, because you’ve worked hard all week and Year 6 need to have a relaxed weekend with early nights before Monday!

Make sure you get to bed nice and early and have a good, healthy breakfast each day next week. Your brain needs plenty of fuel!

Remember, we only want you to do the best that you can do. That is all we will ever ask. You’ve impressed us in the practice papers, so carry on like that and remember not to worry.

We have our session on Thursday afternoon, which your parents/relatives are attending, to look forward to and the tests are only in the mornings.

  • Monday: Reading paper
  • Tuesday: GAPS and spelling
  • Wednesday: Arithmetic and Reasoning paper 1
  • Thursday: Reasoning paper 2.

Get plenty of sleep, have a fun weekend and try not to think about Monday. Your spellings sheets, GAPS books and Mathletics could be good revision aids, if you’d prefer to keep busy.

Half Term Homework

Over the holidays I would like the children to complete pages 16-17 and 42-43 in their GAPS books. Other than the children re-taking this week's spellings and everyone reading at least three times, there is no other homework for half term.
