Week 6 - DT
Another well-supported DT session - thank you to all of the parents who came in for the afternoon. The models are looking great!
Week 4 - Science
How could we make our school uniform safer so that we can be seen more easily when walking at night?
Some of our ideas included:
Most importantly, we now know that lighter colours, shiny materials and metallic surfaces are the best ways to reflect light, which will make us safer when we're out and about at night time.
What do you think of our new uniforms?!
Week 3 - DT
Today we made prototypes for our final models, using different materials to represent the different parts of the model. We demonstrated how we plan for the models to move by showing and explaining them to the rest of the class. Next stop: family sessions! We hope you can make the first one next Thursday (28th) at 1:15pm!
Using dictionaries to find other examples of this week's spelling rule (prefixes and their root words) and also further develop our hand writing style.
We're having a mini debate in Class 3 today! Who would you choose?
Week 2 - PSHE
Today we have been thinking about Dorothy's reaction to meeting the Munchkin people for the first time. We've looked at the different reactions she could have had and used these to help us to notice the difference between prejudice and discrimination. We had some very sensible discussions and well-considered opinions shared by the children.
Week 1 - Science
After reading about how rainbows were made, we were challenged to make a rainbow using only the resources on the table. What do you think of our ideas?
We worked out that the light had to travel through the water in order for the rainbow to be formed; we knew this because of the idea of rain and sunlight making a rainbow in the sky. We then reflected this light onto the white card, where we could see that the white light had been separated into the seven colours of the spectrum of light.
